HAZARDOUS AREA CLASSIFICATION (HAC) DRAWINGS & PLOT PLANS

Displaying, presenting and communicating hazardous areas, including the nature of zones and extent sizes, are an essential part of the Hazardous Area Classification (HAC) process.

HAC drawings are usually created using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, using the client’s scaled General Arrangement (GA) drawings as a base document. HACC also uses the client’s GA drawings to identify potential release points in the system/process under investigation.

HACC Drawings & Plots

For examples of HAC or HAZLOC zone drawings for different industries please see HACC’s HAC Examples Page.

NO CAD DRAWINGS?

Some facilities maybe too old for CAD drawings to exist and may have only physical paper drawings (or blue print drawings) from when the plant was designed or modified. In some situations, there may be no electronic or physical drawings in existence (e.g. misplaced drawings). Don’t worry as HACC can help in these scenarios. As we have conducted for other clients, HACC can create 2D/3D CAD drawings if the process is relatively simple or implement 3D laser scanning technology to detail more complex systems, very accurately and very quickly. Alternatively, when the client has paper (or blue print) scaled CAD drawings; HACC has scanned these paper documents and converted them into CAD scaled drawings using specialised software with minor CAD operator clean up and intervention.

2D / 3D HAC SCALED DRAWINGS

Majority of clients just require 2D plan and elevation type scaled HAC drawings, especially if their process is relatively simple. However, increasing numbers of clients, especially with complex facilities, are requiring 3D models of scaled HAC drawings, which HACC can construct and supply. In these cases, clients require 3D models of HAC drawings in order to understand accurately where zones exist and how their impact on different areas, especially potential ignition sources, transport corridors and escape routes – similar to clash detection.

SCALED PLOT PLAN DRAWINGS

HACC can provide overall scaled plot plan drawings, which have the ability to outline all the hazardous area zoned areas onsite. HACC has experience in producing these types of large-scale drawings for clients worldwide, which have been used to communicate to onsite personnel and contractors which areas could have potential explosive atmosphere present.
